ΠΟΛΙΤΙΣΤΙΚΕΣ – ΕΚΠΑΙΔΕΥΤΙΚΕΣ ΔΡΑΣΕΙΣ / CULTURAL – EDUCATIONAL ACTIONS
Μεγάλη επιτυχία γνώρισε και φέτος η Ημέρα Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς το Σάββατο 4 Οκτωβρίου. Εκατοντάδες επισκέπτες περιηγήθηκαν στους χώρους 
μας, επισκέφτηκαν τις εκθέσεις παραδοσιακών ενδυμασιών, μουσικών οργάνων και έργων του καλλιτεχνικού μας εργαστηρίου και γεύτηκαν τα ελληνικάγλυκά του σεφ μας, κ. Matías Porteiro. Ακόμη, συμμετείχαν σε μικρά ανοιχτά μαθήματα ελληνικής γλώσσας, παρακολούθησαν και συμμετείχαν στην επίδειξη ελληνικών χορών και απόλαυσαν την ζωντανή παρουσίαση της μπάντας Rebétika Montevideo.
Cultural Heritage Day on Saturday, October 4th, was a great success again this year. Hundreds of visitors toured our premises, visited the exhibitions of traditional costumes, musical instruments, and works from our art workshop. They tasted Greek sweets prepared by our chef, Mr. Matías Porteiro, participated in short open Greek language classes, experienced a Greek dance demonstration, as well as enjoyed a live presentation by the band Rebétika Montevideo.
Την 17η Οκτωβρίου, ο καθηγητής μας λογοτεχνίας κ. Álvaro Revello έδωσε την πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα ομιλία “Μεταξύ γυναικωνίτη και Ολύμπου: τοπαράδοξο της γυναίκας στην αρχαία Ελλάδα”. Το θέμα και η παρουσίαση του κ. Álvaro έδωσαν τροφή για συζήτηση, αλλά και για περαιτέρω σκέψη για τη σημερινή κοινωνία.
On October 17th, our literature professor, Mr. Álvaro Revello, gave a very interesting lecture entitled «Between Gynaeceum and Olympus: the paradox of women in ancient Greece.» Mr. Álvaro’s topic and presentation provided food for discussion and further reflection on contemporary society.
Στα πλαίσια των εορτασμών 100 Χρόνων Θεοδωράκη και Χατζιδάκι, τη Δευτέρα 20 Οκτωβρίου, η Επίτιμη Πρόεδρος του Ιδρύματος κα Margarita Larriera 
παρουσίασε στην κεντρική μας αίθουσα την ομιλία με θέμα: “Θεοδωράκης, Χατζιδάκις, Lorca: μουσική, ποίηση και πάθος”. Η παρουσίαση περιλάμβανεεπιλεγμένη ποίηση του Lorca (Ματωμένος Γάμος και Τσιγγάνικες Μπαλάντες), μελοποιημένη από τους μεγάλους Έλληνες μουσικούς. Παρευρέθηκε ο Πρέσβης της Ελλάδας, κ. Σταύρος Σπυριδάκης.
As part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Theodorakis and Hatzidakis, on Monday, October 20th, the Honorary President of the Foundation, Ms. Margarita Larriera, gave a talk in our main hall on the topic: «Theodorakis, Hatzidakis, Lorca: music, poetry, and passion.» The presentation included selected poems by Lorca (Blood Wedding and Gypsy Ballads), set to music by the great Greek musicians. The Ambassador of Greece, Mr. Stavros Spyridakis, attended the event.
Την 31η Οκτωβρίου, η διευθύντρια του Ιδρύματος κα Soraya Ochoviet και η μαθήτριά μας και καθηγήτρια ισπανικής γλώσσας, κα Gladys Valetta, επανέλαβαν την ομιλία “Το ‘h’ δεν ακούγεται, αλλά είναι ξακουστό”. Αυτή τη φορά η διάλεξη δόθηκε στο UNI3, το πανεπιστήμιο τρίτης ηλικίας, μετά από σχετική πρόσκληση.
On October 31st, the director of the Foundation, Ms. Soraya Ochoviet, and our student and Spanish language teacher, Ms. Gladys Valetta, repeated the presentation «The ‘h’ is silent, but it is famous.» This time, the lecture was given at UNI3, the university for seniors, at their invitation.
Κατά τη διάρκεια του 2025, χρονιά που γιορτάστηκαν τα 100 χρόνια από τη γέννηση των Μάνου Χατζιδάκι και Μίκη Θεοδωράκη, τα μαθήματά μας εμπλουτίστηκαν με θέματα, δραστηριότητες, συζητήσεις, όπως και τραγούδια των μεγάλων μουσικών, με σκοπό τη διάδοση του έργου τους και τη γνωριμία των μαθητών μας με την πλούσια μουσική κληρονομιά που άφησαν πίσω τους.
During 2025, the year that marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Manos Hadjidakis and Mikis Theodorakis, our lessons were enriched with related topics, activities and discussions, as well as songs by these great musicians, with the aim of promoting their work and introducing our students to the rich musical legacy they left behind.
ΚΑΛΛΙΤΕΧΝΙΚΕΣ ΕΚΔΗΛΩΣΕΙΣ / ARTISTIC EVENTS
Από τα σημαντικότερα live της χρονιάς 2025 για το μουσικό σχήμα Rebétika Montevideo, που προέκυψε από το εργαστήρι ρεμπέτικου τραγουδιού του 
Ιδρύματος, ήταν αυτό της 7ης Νοεμβρίου στην αίθουσα εκδηλώσεων και παραστάσεων «El Chamuyo». Δεκατέσσερα μέλη της μπάντας -μουσικά όργανα και φωνές- και ένας καλεσμένος ακορντεονίστας παρουσιάσαμε, υπό την καθοδήγηση του καθηγητή μας κ. One of the most important live performances of 2025 for the Rebétika Montevideo band was on November 7th at the El Chamuyo, hall for events and performances. Fourteen members of the band—musicians and singers—and a special guest accordionist presented this year’s repertoire under the guidance of our professor, Mr. Valentín Abitante. You can watch an excerpt on our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@RebétikaMontevideo), which we launched shortly afterwards, or on the band’s Instagram page.
Στις 17 Νοεμβρίου, τιμώντας την επέτειο του Πολυτεχνείου, προβάλαμε και στο Ίδρυμα την ταινία του Jules Dassin «Η Δοκιμή» (The Rehearsal, 1974) για τους μαθητές και φίλους μας. Οι δύο προβολές της ταινίας που πραγματοποιήσαμε στην κεντρική μας αίθουσα είχαν σημαντική προσέλευση.
On November 17th, in honor of the anniversary of the student uprising during the last dictatorship in Greece, we also screened Jules Dassin’s film The Rehearsal (1974) at the Foundation for our students and friends. The two screenings of the film in our main hall were very well attended.
Την Παρασκευή 12η Δεκεμβρίου, η ρεμπέτικη κομπανία πραγματοποίησε στη Sala Ducon την τελευταία της ζωντανή παρουσίαση της χρονιάς, με εξαντλημένα τα εισιτήρια στη μικρή αίθουσα όπου διοργανώνονται μουσικά live, ανανεώνοντας το ραντεβού της για το 2026.
On Friday, December 12th, the Rebetika Montevideo band performed its last live show of the year at Sala Ducon, renewing its appointment for 2026. The tickets of the small hall where musical performances are held were sold out.
EUNIC MONTEVIDEO
Το τελευταίο τρίμηνο της χρονιάς συνεχίστηκε και ολοκληρώθηκε ο Κύκλος EUNIC Ευρωπαϊκής Τέχνης που συνδιοργανώσαμε με τα ινστιτούτα-μέλη της EUNIC Montevideo (European Union National Institutes for Culture). Την 1η Οκτωβρίου, αρχιτέκτονας Ana María Sciandro παρουσίασε στο Espacio 
Colabora τη διάλεξη με τίτλο «Η εμφάνιση των πρωτοποριακών κινημάτων στη Γαλλία, τη Γερμανία και την Ισπανία», ενώ η τελευταία ομιλία πραγματοποιήθηκε την 5η Νοεμβρίου με θέμα «Η σχέση μεταξύ της φουτουριστικής δυναμικής, του Πεσσόα και του ελληνικού εξπρεσιονισμού». Και οι τρεις διαλέξεις του Κύκλου είχαν μεγάλη προσέλευση, με γύρω στα 120 άτομα η καθεμιά με ευαισθησία και ενδιαφέρον για την τέχνη.
The EUNIC European Art Cycle, which we co-organized with our fellow member institutes of EUNIC Montevideo (European Union National Institutes for Culture), continued and was completed in the last quarter of the year. On October 1st, architect Ana María Sciandro presented a lecture entitled «The Emergence of the avant-garde movements in France, Germany and Spain» at Espacio Colabora, while the last lecture took place on November 5th on the topic «The connection between Futurist dynamics, Pessoa, and Greek expressionism.» All three lectures in the series were well attended, with around 120 people at each one, all with a keen interest in art.
ΣΥΜΜΕΤΟΧΗ ΣΕ ΕΚΔΗΛΩΣΕΙΣ / PARTICIPATION AT EVENTS AND CONFERENCES
Το μουσικό σχήμα Rebétika Montevideo προσκλήθηκε να παρουσιάσει την Κυριακή 5η Οκτωβρίου το φετινό του ρεπερτόριο και στην Ελληνική 
Κοινότητα, στα πλαίσια των δραστηριοτήτων της για την Ημέρα Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς. Με την παρουσία τους μας τίμησαν ο Πρέσβης της Ελλάδας στην Ουρουγουάη, κ. Σταύρος Σπυριδάκης. καθώς και ο νεοφερμένος Πρέσβης και Επικεφαλής της Αντιπροσωπείας της Ευρωπαικής Ένωσης στην Ουρουγουάη, κ. Πέτρος Μαυρομιχάλης, που ανέλαβε τα καθήκοντά του μόλις τον προηγούμενο μήνα.
The Rebétika Montevideo music group was invited to present its 2025 repertoire at the Greek Community on Sunday, October 5th, as part of its activities organised for Cultural Heritage Day. We were honoured by the presence of the Greek Ambassador to Uruguay, Mr. Stavros Spyridakis, as well as the newly arrived Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation to Uruguay, Mr. Petros Mavromichalis, who took up his duties just the previous month.
Το Σάββατο 11 Οκτωβρίου, το Ίδρυμα συμμετείχε στην ετήσια εκδήλωση Bailar la Primavera (Χορεύω την Άνοιξη) που διοργανώνει το Urbano Sur του 
Υπουργείου Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού. Οι καθ. Lisette Masoni, Ακριβή Καλδίρη και Διονυσία Κυριακοπούλου παρέδωσαν ένα μάθημα χορών που είχε μεγάλη προσέλευση. Η εκδήλωση έγκειται σε ταυτόχρονα ανοιχτά μαθήματα ποικίλων χορευτικών ειδών και στυλ σε διαφορετικά σημεία του Πάρκου Rodó. Το κοινωνικοπολιτιστικό πρόγραμμα Urbano Sur απευθύνεται σε μειονεκτούντες ομάδες πολιτών που αντιμετωπίζουν δυσκολίες πρόσβασης στον πολιτιστικό τομέα.
On Saturday, October 11th, the Foundation participated in the annual event «Bailar la Primavera» (Dancing Spring), organized by Urbano Sur of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The event consists of simultaneous open dance classes of different types and styles at various locations in Rodó Park. Urbano Sur is a socio-cultural program aiming at disadvantaged groups of citizens who face difficulties in accessing the cultural sector.
Στις 30 και 31 Οκτωβρίου, καθηγητές του Ιδρύματος παρέδωσαν εργαστήρια ποικίλου περιεχομένου στην “Ελληνική Εβδομάδα” που διοργάνωσε το 
Δημοτικό Σχολείο Grecia. Η κα Κατερίνα Καλλιγιαννάκη, η κα Soraya Ochoviet, ο κ. Álvaro Revello και η μαθήτριά μας κα Niré Collazo ετοίμασαν διασκεδαστικές και εκπαιδευτικές παρουσιάσεις για τους μικρούς μαθητές. Επίσης, η Δ’ τάξη δημοτικού παρουσίασε ελληνικούς χορούς στη γιορτή του Σχολείου Grecia που έλαβε χώρα τη 13η Νοεμβρίου. Μετά από πρόσκληση του Σχολείου, η καθ. Alice Méndez τους δίδασκε για τρεις μήνες συρτάκι και καλαματιανό ειδικά για την περίσταση.
On October 30th and 31st, teachers from the Foundation delivered workshops on a variety of topics during «Greek Week», organized by «Grecia» Elementary School. Ms. Katerina Kalligiannaki, Ms. Soraya Ochoviet, Mr. Álvaro Revello, and our student Ms. Niré Collazo prepared entertaining and educational presentations for the young students. In addition, the fourth grade presented Greek dances at the «Grecia» School celebration on November 13th: upon invitation from the School, Prof. Alice Méndez taught them the syrtaki and kalamatiano dances for three months, especially for the occasion.
Η μαθήτριά μας κα Susana de León μάς κάλεσε στη μεγάλη γιορτή που διοργάνωσε το ταξιδιωτικό της γραφείο Su Viajes την 7η Δεκεμβρίου. Η καθ. Lisette Masoni και δύο μαθήτριές της παρουσίασαν ελληνικούς χορούς, ενώ η κα Διονυσία Κυριακοπούλου μίλησε για τις δραστηριότητες του Ιδρύματος και προσκάλεσε τους παρευρισκόμενους να το επισκεφθούν.
Our student, Ms. Susana de León, invited us to the big celebration organized by her travel agency, «Su Viajes», on December 7th. Prof. Lisette Masoni and two of her students performed Greek dances, while Ms. Dionysia Kyriakopoulou spoke about the Foundation’s activities and invited those present to visit it.
ΦΙΛΟΞΕΝΗΣΑΜΕ / WERE RECEIVED
Με την ευκαιρία της σύναψης αδελφοποίησης μεταξύ της Ναυτικής Ακαδημίας Εμπορικού Ναυτικού TEENS και της Ναυτικής Ακαδημίας Ουρουγουάης, εκπρόσωποι και σπουδαστές της ουγουγουανικής Ακαδημίας, ήρθαν να γνωρίσουν το Ίδρυμα συνοδεία του Γενικού Διευθυντή της Tsakos Shipping and 
Trading, κ. Χάρη Χατζημιχαήλ, και συναδέλφων του Ομίλου Τσάκου. Μέλη του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου, καθηγητές και προσωπικό του Ιδρύματος υποδέχτηκαν τους Έλληνες και Ουρουγουανούς επισκέπτες, οι οποίοι κατά την ξενάγηση γνώρισαν κάποια από τα μαθήματα, συνομίλησαν με τους μαθητές μας και παρακολούθησαν ένα μάθημα χορών. Ακολούθησε ένα μικρό κοκτέιλ προς τιμήν τους.
On the occasion of the strategic partnership that was forged between the Tsakos Enhanced Education Nautical Studies (TEENS) and the Uruguayan Naval Academy, representatives and students of the Uruguayan Academy came to visit the Foundation on October 7th, accompanied by the General Manager of Tsakos Shipping and Trading, Mr. Haris Hajimichael, and colleagues from the Tsakos Group. Members of the Board of Directors, professors, and staff of the Foundation welcomed the Greek and Uruguayan visitors. During the tour, they visited some of the classes, conversed with our students, and attended a dance class. A small cocktail reception was followed in their honor.
Το Ίδρυμα ήρθε να γνωρίσει από κοντά και ο νέος Πρέσβης και Επικεφαλής της Αντιπροσωπείας της Ευρωπαικής Ένωσης στην Ουρουγουάη, κ. Πέτρος Μαυρομιχάλης, τη 14η Οκτωβρίου. Τον κ. πρέσβη υποδέχτηκε η διευθύντρια, κα Soraya Ochoviet, και η Επίτιμη Πρόεδρος, κα Margarita Larriera.
The new Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation to Uruguay, Mr. Petros Mavromichalis, also came to visit the Foundation and get to know our work on October 14th. The Ambassador was welcomed by our Director, Ms. Soraya Ochoviet, and the Honorary President, Ms. Margarita Larriera.
ΕΚΔΡΟΜΕΣ / EXCURSIONS
Το Σάββατο 6 Δεκεμβρίου έλαβε χώρα η καθιερωμένη εκδρομή στη φάρμα Orembaé του Καπετάνιου Π. Ν. Τσάκου. Καθηγητές και μαθητές είχαμε ένα ευχάριστο διάλειμμα στη φύση, απολαύσαμε τον καθαρό αέρα και εξερευνήσαμε την περιοχή. Κάποιοι καθηγητές διανυκτερεύσαμε εκεί και ολοκληρώσαμε την εκδρομή την επομένη.
On Saturday, December 6th, the annual excursion of our students and friends to Captain P. N. Tsakos’ Orembaé farm took place. Teachers and students enjoyed a pleasant break in nature, breathing in the fresh air and exploring the countryside. Some professors stayed overnight and completed the excursion the following day.
ΕΘΙΜΑ – ΕΟΡΤΑΣΜΟΙ / CUSTOMS – CELEBRATIONS
Όπως κάθε χρόνο, κλείσαμε τη διδακτική μας χρονιά με μια μεγάλη γιορτή, που πραγματοποιήθηκε την 17η Δεκεμβρίου. Παραδώσαμε βραβεία στους 
αριστούχους μαθητές κάθε τάξης, καθώς και το βραβείο του κ. Ángel Gutiérrez, νικητή του εικαστικού διαγωνισμού “40 Χρόνια Δημοκρατίας” που συνδιοργανώσαμε με την Ελληνική Κοινότητα. Mαθητές παρουσίασαν ελληνικούς χορούς, μια δραματοποιημένη ανάγνωση και ρεμπέτικα τραγούδια, ενώ παράλληλα εκτέθηκαν και τα έργα των μαθητών του εργαστηρίου τέχνης. Κλείσαμε τη βραδιά χορεύοντας στις μελωδίες της μπάντας “Η Παρέα μας”, και ανανεώσαμε το ραντεβού μας για τη νέα χρονιά 2026.
As every year, our year-end celebration took place in the back yard of our premises on December 17th. The award ceremony took place for the students who had excelled in the Greek language, as well as the award to Mr. Ángel Gutiérrez, winner of the art competition «40 Years of Democracy» that we co-organized with the Greek Community. Our students performed Greek dances, a dramatized reading, and rebetika songs, while the art workshop students had their works exhibited. We closed the evening listening and dancing to the popular music of the band «I Paréa mas».
ΡΑΔΙΟΦΩΝΙΚΗ ΕΚΠΟΜΠΗ / RADIO PROGRAMME
Ολοκληρώθηκε η 20η χρονιά συνεχούς λειτουργίας του ραδιοφωνικού προγράμματος του Ιδρύματος «Ταξίδι στην Ιθάκη». Κάποια από τα αφιερώματα που πραγματοποιήθηκαν φέτος ήταν: ο Γιώργος Σεφέρης (62 χρόνια από το βραβείο νόμπελ), η κατοχή της Κύπρου, ο Τρωικός πόλεμος, τα Χριστούγεννα και οι καλικάντζαροι. Την εκπομπή παρουσιάζει η Επίτιμη Πρόεδρός μας κα Margarita Larriera τα Σάββατα στις 8μμ (ώρα Ουρουγουάης) στον σταθμό Radio Oriental AM 770 (www.oriental.com.uy).
The 20th year of the Foundation’s radio programme «Journey to Ithaca» was completed. Some of the special tributes presented during this year were: Giorgos Seferis (62 years since the Nobel Prize), the occupation of Cyprus, the Trojan War, Christmas and the kalikantzaroi. The programme is presented by the Honorary President of Maria Tsakos Foundation, Ms. Margarita Larriera, on Saturdays at 8 p.m. (Uruguayan time) on Radio Oriental AM 770 (www.oriental.com.uy).
