ΗΜΕΡΑ ΠΟΛΙΤΙΣΤΙΚΗΣ ΚΛΗΡΟΝΟΜΙΑΣ

Μεγάλη επιτυχία γνώρισε και φέτος η Ημέρα Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς το Σάββατο 5 Οκτωβρίου. Οι πολυάριθμοι επισκέπτες περιηγήθηκαν στους χώρους μας, επισκέφτηκαν τις εκθέσεις παραδοσιακών ενδυμασιών και έργων του καλλιτεχνικού μας εργαστηρίου, παρακολούθησαν την επίδειξη ελληνικών χορών και γεύτηκαν τα ελληνικά γλυκά του σεφ μας, κ. Matías Porteiro, καθώς και το κρασί της φάρμας Orembaé.

Η εκδήλωση πλαισιώθηκε από την στρογγυλή τράπεζα καθηγητριών μας με θέμα “Το κρασί: ένα ταξίδι στην ιστορία και τον πολιτισμό της Ελλάδας”, όπως και την ομιλία “Ελλάδα: ένα κρασί με ιστορία” της sommelier κας Susana de León. Με μια εξαιρετική παρουσίαση έκαναν και την πρώτη τους εμφάνιση οι μουσικοί του νέου εργαστηρίου ρεμπέτικου τραγουδιού υπό την καθοδήγηση του καθ. Valentín Abitante, που καταχειροκροτήθηκαν από το κοινό.

CULTURAL HERITAGE DAY

Once again, Heritage Day was a great success this year. On Saturday, October 5^th, numerous visitors toured our premises, visited the exhibitions of traditional costumes and artwork (created by our students), enjoyed a Greek dancing demonstration and tasted some Greek specialties created by our chef, Mr. Matías Porteiro, as well as wine from the “Orembaé” farm.

The event was highlighted by our professors’ panel discussion entitled, “Wine: a journey through the history and culture of Greece“, as well as the presentation, “Greece: wine with history” by sommelier Mrs. Susana de León. Additionally, musicians from the new rebetika music workshop, led by Professor Valentín Abitante, held their debut with great success and were enthusiastically applauded by the audience.

ΣΥΖΗΤΗΣΗ ΜΕ PEDRO OLALLA

Ο Ισπανός ελληνιστής και φίλος του Ιδρύματος, κος Pedro Olalla,  προσκλήθηκε στο Μοντεβιδέο με την ευκαιρία της Έκθεσης Βιβλίου του Δήμου. Επ’ ευκαιρία, την 10^η  Οκτωβρίου διοργανώσαμε στο Ίδρυμα συνομιλία με τον δημοσιογράφο κ. Daniel Feldman με θέμα “Η μετάφραση και η θάλασσα: δύο (αμιγώς ελληνικοί) δρόμοι προς τον πολιτισμό“. Κατά την εκδήλωση παρουσιάστηκε και η μετάφραση του βιβλίου “Από τον ήλιο ως τον Θουκυδίδη” του Ναυάρχου ε.α. Κωνσταντίνου Καταγά.

INTERVIEW WITH PEDRO OLALLA

The Spanish Hellenist and good friend of the Foundation, Mr. Pedro Olalla, was invited to Montevideo on the occasion of the Municipality’s Book Fair and on October 10^th, we organized a panel discussion at the Foundation with the journalist Mr. Daniel Feldman entitled “Translation and the sea: two (purely Greek) paths to culture“. During the event, the translation of the book “From the Sun to Thucydides“ by Admiral Konstantinos Katagas, was also presented.

ΣΥΜΜΕΤΟΧΗ ΣΕ ΕΚΔΗΛΩΣΕΙΣ ΚΑΙ ΣΥΝΕΔΡΙΑ / PARTICIPATION IN EVENTS AND CONFERENCES

Το Ίδρυμα δήλωσε το “παρών” στο φετινό φεστιβάλ Culturafest της Σχολής Ανθρωπιστικών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου της Ουρουγουανικής Δημοκρατίας (UdelaR), που πραγματοποιείται κάθε δύο χρόνια. Την 19^η  Οκτωβρίου 2024, οι καθηγητές του Ιδρύματος που διδάσκουν στο Κέντρο Ξένων Γλωσσών του Πανεπιστημίου, κ. Diomedes Gariazzo και κα Κατερίνα Καλλιγιαννάκη, έδωσαν ανοιχτό μάθημα ελληνικών, το δε εργαστήρι ρεμπέτικου παρουσίασε το ρεπερτόριό του, ενώ στο stand  γαστρονομίας o κ. Matías Porteiro πρόσφερε ελληνικά γλυκίσματα.

The Foundation participated in “Culturafest”, a festival organised by the Faculty of Humanities of the University of the Republic of Uruguay (UdelaR), which takes place every two years. On October 19^th, the Foundation’s professors (who teach at the University’s Foreign Language Centre), Mr. Diomedes Gariazzo and Mrs. Katerina Kalligiannaki, gave an open Greek language lesson, the rebetika workshop presented its repertoire and Mr. Matías Porteiro offered Greek pastries at the gastronomy stand.

Την 24^η  Οκτωβρίου, στο Ίδρυμα έλαβε χώρα η παρουσίαση της ποιητικής συλλογής “Το σπίτι της σκόνης των Σουμερίων” της ποιήτριας κας Circe Maia. Την παρουσίαση συντόνισαν ο καθ. Álvaro Revello  και η καθηγήτρια λογοτεχνίας του Ιδρύματός μας, κα Victoria Morón.

On October 24^th, the Foundation hosted a presentation of the book, “The House of Dust of Sumeria“ by the poet Mrs. Circe Maia. The event was led by Prof. Álvaro Revello and moderated by our literature professor, Mrs. Victoria Morón.

Όπως κάθε χρόνο, το Δημοτικό Σχολείο «Grecia» τίμησε την επέτειο της 28^ης Οκτωβρίου, με τους μαθητές της Ε’ δημοτικού να χορεύουν συρτάκι, υπό τη παγκοσμίως γνωστή μελωδία του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη. Το Ίδρυμα περηφανεύεται για την καθηγήτριά μας κα Διονυσία Κυριακοπούλου, η οποία, μετά από σχετική πρόσκληση του σχολείου,  δίδαξε με μεράκι επί δύο μήνες στους μικρούς μαθητές τον δημοφιλή ελληνικό χορό που χορογραφήθηκε το 1964 από τον Γ. Προβιά για τις ανάγκες της ταινίας «Ζορμπάς».

The Greek National Day of October 28^th was also celebrated this year by the ‘Grecia’ Primary School. The surprise of the day was the excellent ‘syrtaki’ dance performance given by the 5^th grade students. The school had requested our Prof. Dionysia Kyriakopoulou, to teach this famous Greek dance to its students and on the occasion of Greek National Day, the world-famous theme of Mikis Theodorakis was heard whilst syrtaki –the dance specifically created for the film “Zorba the Greek”– was performed by its pupils.  

Το Ίδρυμα “Μαρία Τσάκος” ήταν επίσημος χορηγός της “Κληρικολαϊκής Συνέλευσης Ελληνικών Κοινοτήτων και Ιδρυμάτων” που έλαβε χώρα μεταξύ 15^ης και 18^ης  Νοεμβρίου στο Μπουένος Άιρες, με 600 συμμετέχοντες από χώρες της Λατινικής Αμερικής. Μετά από πρόσκληση του Μητροπολίτη Μπουένος Άιρες και Λατινικής Αμερικής κ.κ. Ιωσήφ, μας εκπροσώπησε η διευθύντρια Soraya Ochoviet και συντόνισε τη στρογγυλή τράπεζα με τίτλο “Εκπαίδευση, Πολιτισμός και Παιδαγωγική“, όπου συμμετείχε και η Συντονίστρια Εκπαίδευσης Νέας Υόρκης του Υπουργείου Παιδείας, κα Δήμητρα Πατρωνίδου. Το Ίδρυμα παρέλαβε αναγνώριση από τον Μητροπολίτη για την ευγενική του προσφορά.

Our Foundation was an official sponsor of the “Clergy-Laic Assembly of Hellenic Communities and Foundations” that took place from November 15^th to 18^th in Buenos Aires, with 600 participants from several Latin American countries. Upon the invitation of His Eminence Archbishop of Latin America Iosif, our director Mrs. Soraya Ochoviet moderated the roundtable discussion, entitled “Education, Culture and Pedagogy“. The Foundation received special acknowledgement for its overall participation and assistance at the event.

ΚΥΚΛΟΣ EUNIC ΕΥΡΩΠΑΪΚΟΥ ΚΙΝΗΜΑΤΟΓΡΆΦΟΥ

Η EUNIC Montevideo (European Union National Institutes for Culture), της οποίας αποτελούμε ιδρυτικό μέλος, διοργάνωσε σε συνεργασία με την Ταινιοθήκη της Ουρουγουάης τον “Κύκλο EUNIC Ευρωπαϊκού Κινηματογράφου” από την 31^η  Οκτωβρίου έως την 6^η  Νοεμβρίου. Η ταινία “Μαγνητικά Πεδία”, που επιλέξαμε να συμμετάσχει είναι χαρακτηρισμένη ως ρομαντικό κομψοτέχνημα, πολυβραβευμένη στο Φεστιβάλ Θεσσαλονικής και ο μεγάλος νικητής των βραβείων Ίρις 2022 της Ελληνικής Ακαδημίας Κινηματογράφου. Είμαστε ιδιαίτερα ευχαριστημένοι, διότι η αξιολόγηση του Κύκλου, αλλά και αυτού του ανθρώπινου road movie συγκεκριμένα, ήταν πολύ θετική, τόσο από την Ταινιοθήκη όσο και από τα ινστιτούτα-μέλη της EUNIC.

EUNIC EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL

EUNIC Montevideo (European Union National Institutes for Culture) and Uruguayan Cinematheque organised the “EUNIC European Film Festival“ from October 31^st to November 6^th. The film we selected to participate was the tender road movie, “Magnetic Fields“. This Greek film, directed by Mr. G. Goussis, received various awards at the Thessaloniki Film Festival and was also a triumph at the Hellenic Film Academy Awards. The evaluation of the Festival was very positive, both from the Cinematheque and the EUNIC member institutes.

ΕΚΔΡΟΜΗ ΣΤΗ ΦΑΡΜΑ OREMBAÉ

Το Σάββατο 9^η  Νοεμβρίου, το Ίδρυμα εξέδραμε στη φάρμα «Orembaé» του Καπετάνιου Παναγιώτη Ν. Τσάκου. Καθηγητές και μαθητές απόλαυσαν την οικία και τη γύρω φύση και εξερεύνησαν την περιοχή. Ορισμένοι απ’ εμάς είχαμε την δυνατότητα να διανυκτερεύσουμε στη φάρμα, γεγονός που βοήθησε στη σύσφιξη των μεταξύ μας σχέσεων, και την επομένη, προ της αναχώρησής μας για το Μοντεβιδέο, μοιραστήκαμε ένα asado (BBQ).

EXCURSION TO OREMBAÉ FARM

On Saturday, November 9^th, teaching staff and students joined an excursion to the Orembaé farm of Captain Panagiotis N. Tsakos. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the house and surrounding nature and took the opportunity to explore the area. Some professors stayed overnight which strengthened the ties between them even more and the following day, they enjoyed a typical “asado” before departing.

ΛΗΞΗ ΣΧΟΛΙΚΗΣ ΧΡΟΝΙΑΣ

Η εορτή έλαβε χώρα τη 18^η Δεκεμβρίου στον αύλειο χώρο του Ιδρύματος, όπου και εκτέθηκαν τα έργα του καλλιτεχνικού μας εργαστηρίου. Μετά τη βράβευση των αριστούχων μαθητών και των μικρών νικητριών του φωτογραφικού διαγωνισμού που είχε προκηρύξει το Ίδρυμα με την Ελληνική Κοινότητα,  ακολούθησε η αφήγηση του μύθου του Ερυσίχθονα, η παρουσίαση του νέου σκετς του θεατρικού μας εργαστηρίου και η επίδειξη ελληνικών χορών. Τιμήθηκαν, επίσης, οι προς συνταξιοδότηση καθηγητές μας, κ. Gustavo Figuerola και κα Victoria Morón. Η καλλιτεχνική νότα δεν έλειψε, καθώς η βραδιά έκλεισε με τις μελωδίες του μπουζουκιού και του μπαγλαμά, ανανεώνοντας «χορευτικά» το ραντεβού μας για τη νέα χρονιά.

CLOSING CEREMONY

Our year-end celebration took place in the back yard of our premises on December 18^th, where students and guests had the opportunity to admire the exhibition of artworks from our workshop.

The celebration started with the award ceremony for the students who had excelled in the Greek language, followed by the young winners of the photo competition, jointly organised by the Foundation and the Greek community.

Of great interest to all was the narration of the myth of Erysichthon, whilst the presentation of the new theatrical sketch by our theatre workshop and the performance of Greek traditional dances were the highlights of the evening. Our appointment for the new year was renewed with the sounds of ‘bouzouki’ and ‘baglama’, performing rebetika songs.
